Winter Arts Festival
Last Tuesday, the 9th, Art Club took a trip to Wenz to teach art classes to the students. The kids are in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, so it was a bit of a challenge. Each of us chose a project to do with kids, most of us choosing to be in pairs because we didn't think we could handle an entire class on our own! So Alyx and I tag teamed it and chose to do the project entitled "Pearl Snowflake Ornaments." They looked really pretty in the picture! Plus Alyx and I love pearls, haha. So I made a sample to show the kids what it would look like when we were finished...oh my goodness, was it ever the most frustrating thing to do! Wow they were hard to make. So we started flipping out, because if we couldn't make them, then there's no way a bunch of 4th graders can. Naturally, Alyx breaks the sample I made, so we didn't even have anything to look off of. The kids got extremely frustrated with it, but I was proud that they actually tried. The beading was very intricate and confusing, so I completely understood why some of them were about in tears! They didn't get to finish them, but I'm pretty sure most of them were bound determined to take it home and finish it on their own. I really hope they did!
